Beginner Sewing Machine Workshop
Date: February 26
Time: 6-9
Cost: $85
Location: Venue 1906, 34 Victoria Ave. Belleville
Curious about sewing but not sure where to start? This beginner friendly workshop is the perfect introduction to using a sewing machine while creating a practical project you can actually use.
In this 3-hour class, you'll learn the basics of your sewing machine, including threading, winding a bobbin and sewing straight seams. We will practice on scrap fabrics first and then move on to sewing a simple tote bag from start to finish. All tote pieces will be pre-cut so you can focus on learning the sewing machine and building confidence.
This class is designed for beginners - no sewing experience required - or anyone looking to refresh their sewing skills. The pace is relaxed and supportive and there's plenty of time for questions and one-on-one help. By the end of the workshop you will leave with a finished tote bag and the skills to continue sewing at home or sign up for another class!
What's included:
- 3 hour guided instruction
- Tote bag materials
- A supportive, small group environment
What to bring:
- Your sewing machine (please let me know if you don't have one so I can make sure you do!)
- Basic sewing supplies: pins, pin cushion, scissors, measuring tape, seam ripper, ruler/seam gauge -most of these items can be purchased at the Dollar Store or Fabricland (if you are looking to invest a bit more in your kit). Walmart sells a great beginner sewing kit with these items for around $8 and Michael’s has a kit too for around $7.
